Verkhovna Rada to support the accompanying bill on the anti-corruption court

Anti-corruption court: people’s deputies supported in the second reading and on the whole the draft law, which, in particular, regulates the issues of the activities of the chambers of the higher specialized courts and establishes the institutional autonomy of the appellate chamber of the higher specialized court. The corresponding Law “On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine” On Judicial System and Status of Judges “in connection with the adoption of the Law of Ukraine” On the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court “(draft No. 7441), adopted by BP on July 12.

When considering the draft in the second reading, the people’s deputies supported the amendments, according to which all cases under investigation by the NABU are transferred to the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court.

Also, the Law establishes that the Appeals Chamber of the Higher Specialized Court operates in its composition on the basis of institutional, organizational, personnel and financial autonomy. For it, a separate competition for the positions of judges of the Appeals Chamber is provided (apart from the competition for the employment of other judges of the higher specialized court). The chairman of the appellate chamber is also charged with the powers provided for by the secretary of the court chamber, as well as the powers to represent the appeals chamber before the state authorities, local self-government bodies, individuals and legal entities in matters related to its activities, informing the assembly of the judges of the higher specialized court and the Supreme Court on the results generalization of judicial practice, assistance in fulfilling the requirements for maintaining the qualifications of the judges of the Chamber, raising their professional level ceiling elements level.

In addition, Art. 160 of the Law “On Judicial System and Status of Judges” has been replaced with Chapter 4 “Service of the Judicial Protection”, which regulates the issues of ensuring the protection and maintenance of public order in the courts, the status, powers of such service, its passage, special ranks and social protection of the relevant staff.
