The procedure for registering plant varieties is simplified for the agrarians

The government is creating an open and transparent registration system for plant varieties.

In order to improve the procedure for acquiring rights to plant varieties, the Cabinet of Ministers at its meeting on September 19 adopted three resolutions that regulated:

(a) a mechanism for maintaining the Register of Applications, which will allow obtaining independent objective information on new varieties to all interested parties. The register will be posted on the official website of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy in free of charge 24/7 access;

(b) the mechanism of maintaining the Patent Register, which will ensure a safe market turnover of seeds and planting material. The procedure for state registration of intellectual property rights to a variety will protect the national producer and foreign investor from offenses and abuses in this area. The patent register will also be on the website of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy;

(c) the procedure for requesting plant samples for examination, which in turn will improve the procedure for acquiring rights to plant varieties.
