Health Facilities Need Accreditation No More

On March 20, the amendments to the Procedure for Accreditation of a Health Care Institution and Licensing Conditions for Economic Practice in Medical Practice, approved by the Cabinet of Ministers Decree on March 13, 2019, No. 215, entered into force.

From now on the accreditation of health care facilities is not mandatory. If the medical institution expresses a wish to pass it, this can be done immediately after obtaining a license for the relevant type of activity. Prior to this, the first accreditation used to be carried out after 2 years from the beginning of the activity.

Extraordinary accreditation is also carried out exclusively at the request of the institution in order to increase the category. The main accreditation commission can no longer initiate the extraordinary accreditation.

The list of documents to be attached to the application for the accreditation is also reduced. No need to submit a report on the medical work and/or pharmaceutical activity of the institution any longer.

Regarding the innovations in the schedule of licensed activities in the medical practice, there are no more local protocols (patient routes). The healthcare facilities should have patient’s clinical routes, developed in accordance with the clinical protocols and medical care standards (medical standards) approved by the Ministry of Health.

Now the licensees will provide medical care and medical services in accordance with the clinical protocols and medical care standards (medical standards).

In addition, the licensees are obliged to supply public information on the availability of medicines, consumables, medical devices, and food products for special dietary consumption.
